Monitor network traffic and capture TCP/IP data packets.

As you may well have been able to work out already just from its name (what else could it be?), Smart Sniff is a TCP/IP data packet capture program which lets you inspect the network traffic flowing through your network adapter.

The Smart Sniff program has a dual-pane interface that shows the captured packet as well as detailed information in ASCII or hexadecimal view (to suit the user). Additional Smart Sniff options include colour coding for local and remote traffic, export to HTML, using capture filters, and more. Smart Sniff is able to use raw sockets in Windows 2000/XP, or WinPcap in other versions of Windows. You can also use SmartSniff with the capture driver of Microsoft Network Monitor, if it's installed on your system.

With this Smart Sniff program you can view the TCP/IP conversations in ASCII mode (for text-based protocols, like HTTP, SMTP, POP3 and FTP.) or as hex dump. (for non-text base protocols, like DNS) is very easy to download, install and then use, through its friendly and intuitive user interface. You will probably need some technical experience to get the most out of it.
